PILGRIMAGE

A day's pilgrimage to Westminster Abbey

A day pilgrimage through London’s sacred places, churches, gardens, temples, hills, standing stones and holy wells; lunch included.

Join a small pilgrim group, walking along the Royal Route, to uncover the older, gentler London that still exists beneath the carapace of Mammon and Commerce.

Starting at 10am at All Hallows by the Tower, and stopping for a proper lunch in a magnificent Elizabethan dining hall, we will explore some of the beautiful sacred spaces, churches, gardens, hills, standing stones and holy wells that lie between the old commercial City of London and the royal, political City of Westminster, following a route taken by Kings and Queens of history and legend. We will visit a Roman temple, a lost island, and a battlefield, learning about London saints, river gods, and the Trojan dynasty of British kings, known to every Londoner in Shakespeare’s day.

Believers and non-believers, people of any faith and no faith, are welcome to join in: all you need is an open heart, and a wish to see the capital in a new – or ancient – light. You might walk with a private purpose, dedicating your journey to resolving a question, or letting something go. How you use it is up to you. Past pilgrims have found the day to be enjoyably informative and even transformative.

‘The pilgrimage with you shall remain among the dearest moments during our London trip.’ Lisa, 2024

‘Inspiring, moving, memorable are some of the words that come to mind to describe yesterday’s pilgrimage. Your deep knowledge of sacred London and the joy with which you share it make it a privilege to walk with you.’ Tom, 2024

‘I enjoyed every single second of it; there was so much interest round every corner, so many gripping stories, all brought to vivid life by you. It really was a blessed day.’ Mary, 2024

The day will end at 5pm, ahead of the service of Choral Evensong at Westminster Abbey
